Industry Recognition
Billboard Japan Music Awards
Recognized for exceptional independent sales performance with THE RED MAGIC, outselling many major-label releases. Ceremony held March 3, 2012 at Billboard Live Tokyo.
Space Shower Music Video Awards
Awarded for the music video of "Public Enemy", one of AK-69's most recognized singles.
RIAJ Certification
RIAJ Gold certification for studio album THE RED MAGIC, a milestone for independent Japanese hip-hop.
Oricon Chart Achievement
The Independent King peaked at #2 on the Oricon Albums Chart. The companion DVD topped the Oricon Total DVD Rankings.
MTV Video Music Awards Japan (VMAJ)
Won Best Hip Hop Artist at MTV VMAJ 2015, cementing his position as Japan's top hip-hop performer.
Def Jam Recordings — Historic Signing
AK-69 became the first artist from Japan signed to Def Jam Recordings, one of hip-hop's most storied labels. Founded Flying B Entertainment Inc. in January 2016, then signed a distribution deal with Def Jam/Universal. Debut album under Def Jam: DAWN (November 2016).
Nippon Budokan — DAWN in BUDOKAN
Performed a solo concert at Nippon Budokan, Japan's most prestigious concert venue. Released as DVD on March 7, 2018.
Nippon Budokan — THE ANTHEM (2 Days)
DAY1 covered the years 2004-2011, DAY2 covered 2012-2019 — a celebration of 15 years of AK-69's career. Released as 2-disc DVD in August 2019.
Nippon Budokan — START IT AGAIN
AK-69's fifth Budokan performance and the first time performing on center stage at the venue. Released as DVD/Blu-ray in December 2022.
Yokohama Arena — My G's
First solo performance at Yokohama Arena (~10,000 capacity), featuring guest appearances from SEEDA, ILL-BOSSTINO, DJ RYOW, and others.

Independent Rise
