METHODOLOGY

Data Collection Process

The Archive: AK-69 compiles discography data from two primary authoritative databases: Discogs (the world’s largest music database with over 15 million releases) and MusicBrainz (an open-source music encyclopedia maintained by a global community of editors). Both databases are available under Creative Commons CC0 licensing.

Primary Source: Discogs

Discogs provides release-level metadata including label information, catalog numbers, format details (CD, vinyl, digital), country of release, and detailed credits for producers, engineers, and other contributors. AK-69’s Discogs profile (Artist ID: 1350015) serves as the authoritative source for physical release data.

Secondary Source: MusicBrainz

MusicBrainz contributes recording-level data including ISRC codes (International Standard Recording Codes), precise track durations in milliseconds, artist credit information per track, and release group classifications. AK-69’s MusicBrainz profile provides cross-referenced identifiers for streaming services.

Data Processing

Deduplication

When the same release appears in multiple formats (CD, digital, limited edition), we retain the version with the most complete tracklist while noting format variations in the release specifications.

Classification

Releases are classified into categories (Studio Albums, Singles, EPs, Compilations, Live Albums, Remixes) based on MusicBrainz release group types, supplemented by heuristic analysis of track counts and title patterns.

Quality Assurance

Track durations are cross-referenced between sources. ISRC codes are validated against MusicBrainz recording identifiers. Release dates are verified to day-level precision where available.
